Approach B — Segment list first
Type the dates. Table-driven, contract-friendly, best when the cadence is precise or you're a power user.
Segments
Annual-recurring. Months outside any segment have no cadence.

Validation
- ✓ No overlapping segments
- ✓ All gaps positive integers
- ⚠ 3 months uncovered (Oct–Dec) — no breaches will fire in those months
Strengths
- Precise — exact day boundaries, copy/paste, CSV-friendly.
- Familiar shape (any data-entry user gets it immediately).
- Cheapest to build and most accessible (keyboard-driven).
Tradeoffs
- The visual story (the ribbon) is secondary — easier to ship a template you didn't mean to.
- Seasonal patterns feel like a chore here vs. natural in the calendar-grid approach.
- Risk of "row anxiety" — managers staring at gap-day numbers without context.
